“Flying high – Not bad for a guy who’s got with dementia eh?”

One of our favourites from the Dementia Diaries archives:

“Hi, this is Eddy Flory at York. Just reporting that on January 17th I was 80 years old and my family bought me a flight in a World War II aircraft. On Saturday morning, I went down to Derby and flew in a Tiger Moth, and the pilot actually let me take control. And it was an unbelievable experience. I was given a complete pilot’s uniform and was strapped in. And at the end of the 15 minute flight,  I had champagne and I had photographs and I’ve got a little fob that’s got the whole flight on so I can show my friends. So that’s a Tiger Moth I’ve flown in, a glider, and a hot air balloon. Not bad for a guy who’s got with dementia eh?”
