– Nkaiso Akpan, Rivers State
“The results have no impact on our daily life. People are not jittery over the results. In any election, there will always be protests. Rivers state is not an exception. People protest because they lack understanding of each other. They also protest because they feel cheated/ their rights are trampled upon. But, the political leaders we have now are fighting for their rights and not for the people. Gone are the days where people come out to fight for his people.
All I need is electricity and the restoration of sanity to all sectors in Nigeria. I do not care who brings that change. Many people are disappointed in the electoral system and refused to vote [in the Gubernatorial elections]. I went out yesterday evening (around 6 pm) but to my surprise, elections had already ended as compared to the presidential elections.
My neighbour who voted in the last elections refused to vote this time around. Although he kept saying in the company of his friends that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (Chief. Barr. Nyesom Wike) will win the election.
Personally, I did not vote because I had no Permanent Voters Card (PVC). If I were to vote for a candidate, I will go for a fresher who has never tasted power. I will do this because I know he or she will deliver his/her manifestos and also make history.”
